F-35 Helmet, making man and machine one

I’m supposed to write a story on the F-35 Helmet. It’s unique in that it allows the pilot to look through the aircraft as if it weren’t there. The video above demonstrates what this would look like. Lance Cheung, a photojournalist assigned to Defense Media Activity – San Antonio, took a number of photos of the futuristic helmet. As the writer for the story I need to get my points of contact and subject-matter experts lined up so I can conduct a quick but thorough phone interview. Look for the story in the Jan-Feb issue of Airman Magazine.
Pre Game Day

I found out Wednesday that I have to cover a story today. So I had to get my orders approved, arrange air fare and get to Colorado Sprints. Tomorrow we’ll be covering ESPN live at the Air Force Academy. Tonight we’ll see the sights of Colorado Springs. I missed the mountains.

Another trip
I’m getting ready to travel to Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio and Eglin AFB, Fla., in the next few weeks covering stories for the Jan/Feb issue. Some of the stories I’ll be doing include coverage of flight tests at Eglin (complete with aerial photography) and a new super-computer at Wright-Pat.
Just add water
