Dossier
Writer, photographer, world traveler, J. Paul Croxon is a jack of all trades. As the senior staff writer for Airman Magazine, the Air Force’s flagship publication, Paul travels to where Airmen are doing the most amazing things; usually in strange and exotic locales like the Arctic Circle, or Ohio.
Paul started writing in college at the University of Michigan where he was an English major, then a physics major, and back to English. With a background in creative writing, he is always looking for interesting stories about people. He joined the Air Force in 2004, a story in itself but for a later time. His first duty station was Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D., the other Minot.
In 2006 he deployed to Iraq where he travelled throughout the middle-east covering stories of Airmen at war and setting up the standardized Air Force Web site for all Air Force bases in Iraq.
After a lot of soul searching and interviews, Paul decided to leave the Air Force in 2008 but a chance phone call and the offer to be the only military staff member for Airman Magazine changed all that.
